Measurements
Sometimes it can be difficult to know how much of a product you need. We’ve provided some simple calculations to help you.
Gardeners Landscape Supplies uses equipment certified in accordance with the Weights and Measures Act and Weights and Measures Regulations, so you can be sure you’re getting exactly what you pay for.
Covering an area
To calculate how many cubic metres you need to cover an area, multiply the square metres by the thickness you want to apply. See image.
Remember: Your measurements need to be in metres, not millimetres.
Bagged Materials
1,000 Litres make up 1m³. To work out how many 50 litre bags of compost will fill 1 cubic metre, divide 1,000 by the size of the bag.
Example: 1,000L / 50L = 20 Bags
Cement
16 Contractors Barrows = 1m³
Cement ratios for common uses:
– 5:1 for Ramps, Driveways, etc. 8 bags per m³
– 6:1 for Paths, Post Holes, etc. 6 bags per m³
– 4:1 for Mortar, Bricks, etc. 12 bags per m³
